"I was just looking for an update for my Philips burner. But it seems that the people at Phillips are having difficulties on keeping their software working. They just send people around and around to different sites just to end up at the very beginning after an hour or so. I have the original software on CD.

I will extract it and make an image file of it. I will try to post it here.

"Reloaded driver 5 times only to have it dissapear everytime I rebooted. Working with Easy creator only made things worst! I will try again to get it to run as this CD-R/RW was in the computer when I purchased it."

It seems to require a Roxio product to be previously installed. I believe that Roxio is a software product used for burning CD's... I also believe that HP uses Roxio for their external CDR units... this driver did not install in my HP with an internal Phillips CDD 4851 CDR-R/RW"

"I had a problem with my Philips CDD4851 writer. It didn't read or write and just spoiled the cd's when I tried to write. After installing this driver everything worked fine for a few weeks and now I have the same problem again."

"I've tried nearly every driver and patch for this particular piece of equipment, and I've come to a conclusion. No one on the face of the planet has ever gotten a phillips cdd4851 cdr/rw to work properly (properly being the operative word). My expert advice (MCSE and CISCO certified) is to trash this cdr/rw, cut your losses and buy a creative labs cd/dvd/rrw
