"This is the very file I was looking for, no longer supported by or available from USR, as best I could tell. The update installed with no trouble and windows now ID's this modem as a Sportsther 56k.
Unfortunately, I'm still connecting at 28.8, but I think that has more to do with the local phone line quality than the modem's firmware. I have however experienced binary downloads in excess of 5.1k, so I have every reason to believe this update is working.
