"After using this driver under both 95 and 98, it appears that the card has four different devices on it. There is one device that doesn't seem to matter if it has a driver or not? The three I have showing are MPU-401, Opti sound system and the joystick. If anybody knows what the fourth one is, let me know but it doesn't affect the sound output in anyway."

"Sorry folks, OPTI sold their "Audio Chip" line, and no longer updates the driver code for their chips. In other words we are stuck with the older drivers and none have been specifically writtn for WIN98. WIN95 drivers usually works fine in 98. But the OPTI chips in my experience, usually live a short life. Take Care."

"The driver does work great. If you put it on a disk then when Win95,98 finds the new hardware it will go to the 3 1/2 first and start loading as usual. After I did this method I only had to clear one questioned item and I just pointed it back to the A again with no problems."

"The drivers are located on two different disks. One is the WIN98 disk and the other is the OPTI 931 DRV disk. Under the install window type in D \931\DOS_W31\SETUP or under A \ as well. I've got a "Pro 16 3D Audio controller", a 16-bit stereo sound card based on the OPTi82C931 Plug-and-Play controller chip. I've downloaded your zip-file, and tried to re-install my soundcard. Afterwards, I've noticed that I still can't play audio-CD's on my computer. As soon as I put a audio-CDin my CDrom, the system will crash. Also when I try to start cdplayer.exe, my system will crash. I hope you, or someone else can help me with my problem. OPTi doesn't have a driver for the 82c931 chipset for Windows'98.
