"I thought this driver was pants at first untill I realised that you have to have the c media mixer app loaded in the system tray to be able to set the recording options for video capture etc. Windows settings dont make a difference. All I was getting was video with no sound. All is ok now and the card works better with my system and dont cause the lockups in xp that my sound blaster was causing. Also it doesent take over the system like the sound blaster live did. Thanks!"

"Hurray! Success at last! After upgrading my no-name Win98 computer to Win2k, lost sound. (soundcard was on the motherboard). After a lot of wasted time with Microsoft drivers, got the cheapest Sound CArd from Best Buy Hercules Gamesurround XL for $19.99. Even though box said compatible with 2wk, would get blue screen of death on startup. Contacted Hercules got a email back from the C-Audio engineer telling me to try v 5.12.01.0632 from their website. This got me sound, but with a lot of static AND caused some type of conflict with my wireless network connection! Found this one (v5.12.01.0542), decided to give it a whirl. Now have crystal clear sound and my network connection is back. Thank you Debbie Ellis and thank you Driver Guide."

"I guess this is the driver posted on their website. 'Dunno about SPDIF, but I just cannot use my microphone since there's no mic. booster in the mixer provided. Moreover, I found in the "Logfile for WDM driver" a note dated Jul 14, 99 which says "v3.9 Disable mic boost." Do I have to understand that they won't be implementing a microphone boost for Win2000?"

"this driver has fixed SOME problems with windows 2k ( and therefore XP) however i STILL can't get the digital out working correctly - everytime an application resets the soundcard, the sound switches from "wave" to "SPDIF" in the spdif section of the volume control and requires you to manually set it back, and i have not gotten power dvd to work at all. i whish CMEDIA got this working nicely - it would be soo good as the w98 drivers are excellent. and this will really hurt when XP is released"
