If you're having trouble with this drive not recognizing blank CD's, a firmware upgrade is available at Compaq's web site.

This will upgrade the BIOS to 2.5, allowing it to identify the blank CD's.
I have a Presario 7000 desktop running ME. Though its not listed(computer model), I downloaded it and it now works.
