Thus the driver is at the moment useless for me.

"I see a lot of you have problems with these drivers (the first thing I have to tell you this driver work’s) that’s because you have no experience loading or installing hardware or the drivers. First what you do in this case is install the software then connect your scanner. Win Xp will find the new hardware and will ask you to install the drivers press next, win Xp automatically will find the appropriate driver in system 32 folder and you are done. It’s advisable to reboot your computer."

"I downloaded this driver for a snapscan 1212U running Windows 2000 Pro. This utility works better than the original USB driver and tools that came with the scanner! It installed easily, and once I rebooted, the utility came right up, and I was able to scan within minutes. One really nice feature is that the scan plugs the image right into different documents."

"Works great, with a little bit of playing around. I've installed the driver, then I went to device menager > SNAPSCAN 1212U > update driver. I had to unzip (with WinRar) the downloaded program file to know where the driver is (its the agfascan.ini file)I had to install manually with the have disk option because all the other options didn't work. "I downloaded the driver and it still asked me to turn on or connect. I had previously downloaded a new program called Scan Wise from the AGFA site. I had to go to Device manager and select this driver. Unplugged the scanner and usb, restarted computer, plugged in scanner and usb, reinstalled software and it all worked fine. I can use the Scanwise program in MS Picture it. It was a chase to make this work but the driver was the ticket. Thanks, Jim"

"With XP Pro, I tried three drivers and this one finally worked (actually, the others might have, had I used the hardware wizard before). After installing this exe file, you need to use the "Add Hardware Wizard." From the Control Panel, click Printers and Other Hardware, then "Add Hardware" (Attention this is NOT the process that follows the Scanners and Cameras icon, which asks you if you have the manufacturers disk). Once in the wizard, it will tell you that the driver is not installed. In the next pane or two, it will allow you to point to AGFASCAN.inf which is in the Windows/inf directory (assuming you launched this download). Finally, the scanner still didn't work (but the computer saw it) until after reboot (also turn on and off the scanner to clear it). I hope this is helpful."

"If you have trouble with WinXP not finding your driver after installing, try searching your hard drive for AGFASCAN.INF. And then do an advanced install and pick that driver."

"I installed the driver and rebooted. I then had the Alan Lewis problem until... memory gets foggy here, but I am pretty sure that I had to tell the computer to use that dirver for that scanner. Either I used Device Manager and saw that these was no driver associated with the scanner or the computer just told me.
