"Yes - it worked fine under winXP. There is no exe, as one other reviewer mentioned, but if you allow the "add hardware wizard " to do it's job, the driver installs with no problem. If you are a total newbie, then you'll need to know that you will also need a software to display what the camcorder (or other video gizmo) is putting out.

I suggest you google *stoik capturer* to ge a good one that's free and easy to use.

"This driver worked for me using XP Home SP2 with an old Dazzle DM-5000 (Digital Photo Maker). Extract the driver files to a folder, plug in the DM-5000 to the USB port, when XP detects the hardware and wants to look for the drivers, point to the folder that you extracted them to. Note that at this point XP tells you that the drivers are not XP compliant and you may be messing up your system big time by installing them. When I ignored this warning, the device was installed and I was able to use it with Windows Movie Maker with no problems. Of course, I may have messed up my system big time and just don't know it yet. Note that to capture sound with this device, you may have to connect the camera/VCR audio 'out' with the microphone 'in' on your PC and make sure that the microphone 'in' isn't set to mute. The DM-5000 does seem to degrade the video quality somewhat (based on the quality of the video as viewed on my camera's LCD). The captured video has an orange cast to it. I might end up buying a better video capture device."

"For Windows Me the dazzle site had a updated driver for windows ME. Now that they dont sell this product anymore the dm5000 so they no longer have the patch. Can someone tell me before I install it does this version work in ME? I dont care about it working with the old dazzle software just want it to capture and stream video from external video cam."

"I'm running Win XP Pro SP1. The USB device was autodetected when I plugged in the Dazzle DM-5000 and the driver seemed to load fine -- it shows up as Dazzle DPVM! (0002)under device type Imaging Devices in Device Manager. However, the Dazzle DPM application SW (v3.6) will not install. I tried using the Program Compatibility Wizard specifying Win98 (no other OS selection would get past the error box stating Dazzle DPM requires Win98) and received a box stating DCOM required a reboot. At that point, whether I reboot or not another error box comes up and says "If you have not installed the Dazzle DPM hardware drivers already, please exit Setup and install the hardware drivers before running Dazzle DPM Setup again." Upon clicking OK, setup terminates. Has anyone been able to install this SW or successfully used any other SW (besides Pinnacle Studio 8 which I don't have) on Win XP? Thanks in advance..."

"1) XP will not install interface (autorun), stating WIN98 required, then ends install. 2) If install from disk manually, at end of install states"the following files were not registered correctly" "C \Program Files\DazzleDPM\Bin\DazzleDPMDeviceX.ocx (repeats this twice with between). 3) Then run this download to update drivers and get the message that drivers not signed (expected). 4) Click icon to open GUI and it only partially shows and non-functionable and non-responsive and have to CAD, end task to close. So, thanks anyway, we tried. If you have any suggestions to get it to work I'm open to any and all."

"Finally!!! I can use my Dazzle again. When I got a new computer and switched to XP, I was disappointed that I couldn't use my Dazzle and the company wouldn't support it with an XP driver. This one worked fine and I'm back in business again. It took me a while to figure out what to do to install it, but at least now it works. Thanks for making it available."

"For close to a year, I have looked from one side of the internet to the next, and I thought I would never find a USB driver that would work with the Dazzle dm5000. Dazzle.com doesn't have a driver for this product that works with windows XP. Finally, a driver that works. I hope it has no viruses. THANKS MIKE."
