- At the top of page D-5 where the directories created are listed,
the directories "avayadirerror" and "avayadirehelp" do contain
the text files for search-related error messages and end user
Directory assistance, but the directory names are incorrect. The
administrator MUST rename the directory "avayadirerror" to "error"
and "avayadirhelp" to "help". Without this change, the help
messages will not be displayed when a help screen is loaded and
the error messages will report "Undefined error" when an error is
encountered. This issue does not affect operation of the
administrator or client.
- On Page D-5, under instructions for Installation for any other
Unix-based operating system:
Step 2 states:
"Copy the entire tree that was created by running unzip under the
documentRoot of the httpd server. For example, if your directory is
/var/www/html, the directory created will be
/var/www/html/avayadir."
This is incorrect, please disregard and follow the instructions below:
The zip file will not create the subdirectory "avayadir".
The administrator must create this directory in the documentRoot of
the httpd server. For example, if the document root directory is
/var/www/html, the administrator must create /var/www/html/avayadir.
The zip file should be copied to this avayadir directory
and extracted there.
- The administrator must install RedHat v8.0 only. This is the only
version of Linux that the Directory application is verified to work on.
If using Windows, the you must install a 4.2 version (4.2.3 preferred)
of PHP. Please go to http://www.php.net to download the 4.2.3
version.
INSTALLATION ISSUES
-------------------
The Directory Application comes in two packages:
- An RPM for installation to Linux systems.
- A zip file to allow installation to any other system with
Apache and PHP installed.

FEATURES
--------
- Server is written completely in PHP. The PHP interpreter runs on
many platforms, allowing the Directory Thin Client Application
Server to be installed on any platform that supports PHP.
- Out-of-box Red Hat support. The Directory Thin Client Application
will install directly on a Red Hat 8.0 (or greater) server without
any additional configuration. The Red Hat Package Manager
will do all the work for you.
- Customizable search fields - Search by name, number, email
address, or any other LDAP field valid for your directory. Up
to 6 fields are supported. Multiple fields can be used in one
search to refine results.
- View up to 96 results in one search.
- Place calls directly from results or export them to the speed dial
list.
- Administrator can customize detailed results view. Allows for up
to 6 fields of data to be displayed. Display results can be labeled,
or left unlabeled if the results are self explanatory.
- Link results - Allows the user to follow up results from one search
with another, related search. For example, this feature can be
used to quickly list all the people in the same department as the
current person being viewed.
- Easy to use administration application - The entire administration
process can be accomplished via a password protected web
administration tool. Settings for the Directory Server, search
fields, detail fields, and softkey links can be administered here.
Help text and examples are available on each administration
screen.
