"Question before using I am currently running AMD K6-2/300 MHz /FIC VA-503+ ver. 1.1a and have recently acquired an AMD K6-2/500MHz. The machine runs fine but I'd like to have the extra 200 MHz. Will using amdk6upd.exe and jumper settings allow this board to work with the new CPU???"

"This is apparently not actually a BIOS patch, but the vxd upgrade offered by Microsoft. Though my problem is as described above, this failed to resolve the situation."

"Update file works great, I had the cpu recognized as a K6-2 133 Mhz. with a 66 Mhz bus, because if I got the speed any higher the system would give the IOS error. After I ran the update program and the system rebooted I changed the BIOS values to 400 Mhz and 100 Mhz bus, let windows boot and everything worked great. I had the problems with Win95 1st release also, after I installed OSR2 and ran the update it worked ok. Thanks for the help."
