"CRAP! I dont know what it does, but it does NOT update any OPTi drivers, thats for sure... as ppl before me said: all it did is to reboot my box, thats all.

GET OPTCDFIX.EXE (it is here, I just got it). IT WORKS, and as a bonus you get a dual FIFO on both channels :)"

"This one is crap. The only thing it did was reboot my computer and cause me more irritation. Don't use this one, unless you want a program that will only reboot your computer."

"I was upgrading from Windows95 to Windows98 and my Opti Viper-M/N+ Dual IDE Controller gave me a conflict where I could not see or access my CDROM drive and I could not see or access some extended DOS partitions on one of my hard drives. I downloaded a couple of drivers from this site. I could not get the PCDROM.EXE driver to work. But then I tried using the OPTCDFIX.EXE drivers found at driverguide.com and it worked beautifully, even though my machine is not an IBM Aptiva."

"If you have Win98 SE this driver is not required. However, you will need to coax the machine in question (I was working on a Kiwi OpenNote 680)What I did was load a fresh Win98SE from scratch. After you get the blue screen regarding 32bit and compatibility mode drivers reboot into safe mode. Remove the opti viper controller thats listed and reboot again. Let windows find all the hardware it wants and go all the way to the desktop (IMPORTANT CLICK NO ON REBOOT QUESTIONS) once on the desktop manually shutdown the machine and TURN OFF THE NOTEBOOK. turn on and let it boot to windows normally. To do a quick check press Windowskey+E to bring up explorer and look for your cdrom drive. if it's there then you got it."
