"Hi I downloaded it but have yet to install it. I am working on an IBM Aptiva E3N with an AMD 300 MHz processor and 128 MB of RAM. It currently has a crystal sound codec called CRYSTAL AUDIO DRIVER 4.05.2700 which I saw posted at Sounddrivers.com as well. The sound works right now with basic files but skips and gives duplicate sound etc when trying to play from media player. I need to tool around a bit first. XP warned me that there might be some issues before I started. I AM NEVER BUYING AN IBM or other manufactured machine again. NEXT TIME I AM BUILDING MY OWN (very soon). AS THE ADS ABOUT THE MACHINE BEING TOTALLY UPGRADABLE WERE BOGUS. ONLY 1 PCI, 1 shared PCI/ISA slot in TOTAL! and no AGP (built on 2 mb ati card), no sound card except this crappy codec) and I think I paid $1800 tax included at Future Shop 4 years ago. I could have got so much more if I built my own, oh well, live and learn."

"I purchased a desktop made by "Microstar" in Germany. It came with German version WinXP. I later installed an aftermarket English version WinXP on it. But then XP could not identify a driver for the "AC97 onboard sound". I downloaded this driver it worked. However the AC97 onboard sound is the same hardware module that handles the game controller (for joystick, etc). Right now the game controller is still listed as "other devices" with unidentified driver. So, the search for proper drivers goes on..."

"My motherboard is PC DDR333) and Windows XP detected it so. Onboard chip was reported to be Avance. yet when I installed the drivers, it did not recognize the actual model. I assume the error since the options for configuration is only for two-speaker system, instead of the four-speaker one. Anyone knows how to adjust this or a better driver? Thanks"

"This driver is a piece of cake to install. I used this driver on a HP A7M266-M Standard ATX Motherboard running Windows 2000 Professional. The Crystal audio chip is built into the motherboard.
