"i used this driver on a via vt8233/vt8366 kt-266 chipset. onboard is the ac'97 digital audio controller (codec on board). followed the advice of the wonderful lady who saved me who knows how much time! and unzipped it to windows/temp folder. went to add/remove hardware...browsed the temp foler and presto!! i now have beautiful sound. thanx to everyone! i appreciate this website and those who keep it current (with old drivers as well!). have a great day and God bless."

"The driver is excellent, you have to make sure that your system does indeed need an ALC2001A for on board sound, I must have downloaded at least 25 drivers that did not work, what I did not know was that I needed the ALC model, that made all the difference, I actually used a magnifying glass to find the chip on the board and I did find the #. If you do the proper search and you have the right driver you'll make it! Also make sure you install from Install Hardware and browse for the folder WDM that is in the C/Window/temp. If I saved you only half the time I spent on installing the right driver it was a good deed."
