"I have a VIA Onboard AC97 (disabled) and Trident 4dWaveDX (Aztech PCI64Q3D). Installed this driver properly but there is a lot of scratchy, buzzy noise. Secondly, this driver does not let the card use hardware capabilities of the 4DWave chip. Which means that all sounds play from a software buffer and which is really no better than any onboard sound. Decreasing 'Hardware Acceleration' and/or 'Sample Rate Conversion Quality' has no effect. Also, I dont think the gameport is installed. Tell me, doesn't XP need sample set files, gmxx.slb. Thanks anyway for your effort. PS Scractchy noise maybe a poor PSU but I dont think so in my case because card works fine in WinME. My System is AMD AthlonXP 1800+ Asus A7V266M (VIA KT266A) 300 Watt Intex PSU 256 MB RAM WinXP SP1 ********* I HATE AZTECH I HATE TRIDENT AND I HATE LANBIT ************"

"This is a really good driver for Windows 2000. It sounds quality perfect but with following problem. 1. Direct Sound support --> not native (using microsoft dxdiag), no hardware buffer. 2. Winamp direct sound quality great. 3. Play game have wave problem (directsound)(e.g. Diablo II) 4. To solve the gamming problem, go to sound properties and set aceration to none than everything works fine (except winamp direct sound output have buzzy noice. Anyway, use waveout sounds perfect again. Regards Alfred."
