"I am trying to reinstall W95 on my laptop. I have an external portable cdrom which I can't get recognized by the computer. I think it was manufactured by IBM but there are no numbers of any kind on it. The manual says CD-Amigo. Is there any drivers that can be used for a generic cd rom like this?"

"I Dont want to be a pest but i need the driver for the CR-563 MKE Panasonic CD-ROM Drive I know its old but i desperately need this driver any help would be deeply appriciated any ideas??"
"It didn't work - I don't have a SCSI CDRom or card or anything else - all I want to do is install for DOS with a Panasonic sound card connection!
Help!! Anyone"
"Please remember that in order for the driver to see the CD-ROM it has to get past your SCSI interface card or device first. You are correct that it sometimes does not work with the driver tht is provided on this site.
In order to get my CD to work in order to load Windows.
1) I had to go to the website of the maker or my SCSI device
2) Find the driver for the SCSI device on the website
3) If the computer gods are smiling upon you, there will be documentation for that SCSI Device, which will give you a file and instructions on how to install the CD-ROM Driver for that manufacturer. In my case AMD provided me with the name and format of their Microsoft tested SCSI CD-ROM driver.
I used the AMD SCSI Driver and the AMD CD-ROM SCSI driver and was able to access the CD-ROM find from DOS and load Windows.
I will help you if I can."
"I *tried* to install the driver--
like mentioned in above comment--
Now what??-- getting a little tired
on no info on how to correctly
install these things..."
"the driver did not work for me because i had no ezdrive disk to install for the scsi hard drive bought it secone handed might get it to work still tho thanx for the driver"
"The installation program requires a choice be made about the SCSI controller. Don't know what I have. It is a CT-1770 (SB16SCSI) sound board. Options 1-3 require EZ-SCSI be installed first. I don't have it. Option 4 seems to work but when I reboot, no CD-ROM drive is found. This is in a CompaqPresario CDS860. Any ideas?"
